Critical thinking

what kind of questions would you use to get a child'scritical thinking skills going from a young age with regards to the bible/god/jesus/anything to do with the religion??.

my most hated answer jws gave to people when they said you can't see god so how do you know he exists was "well you can't see electricity or gravity but you know they exist".

sorry but that doesn't prove god exists.

I'm going to try hard from a young age to get my children interested in science, evolution and archaeology as well and when they're older they'll be doing philosophy at school which should help. Thankfully they live with me and not the jw father so I'll hopefully have the strongest influence.

The atheists book of bible stories is another great book to use once old enough. It's questions to get their thinking really going though that i need to think of so they see through what dad says about Jehovah and jws.

Sorry but that doesn't prove god exists. Their critical thinking skills are lacking somewhat.

What I'm after though are simple questions that can get a child thinking and reasoning

Does Disfellowshipping only prohibit spiritual contact with a DF family member or friend?

all through my life, now in my 40's, i've seen df people get completely shunned by family and friends, but an ex elder showed me the stfog book that says it's just spiritual contact that stops.

so what's the crack?

i'm mega confused, as i want to go p.o.m.o or ideally da but don't want to loose family..

The recent shunning video is a great one to prove they shun family members. They can't get away from that one if it's used

Sorry doubter but the society is pushing its members to shun inactive ones now as well.

I didn't disassociate because I'd done anything wrong, I disassociated because I saw the society for what it is after researching its early publications. People I've known for over a decade shun me because I've chosen to have a different view, which I Didnt voice to them therefore I want even classed as an apostate. They shunned without even knowing the circumstances behind me disassociating and all because the society say someone who leaves is mentally diseased.

They only say that so its members can't have their eyes open to 'the truth about the truth'. That's because the religion doesn't stand up under scrutiny and they know it!!

What would you do or say?

a brother who is not baptized ( so there's still hope for him ) had a sister recently run into him at a store.

show wanted to know if he's going to the kingdom hall.

she asked him to write a letter for her to give to his mother ( who's deceased) in the paradise explaining why he didn't make it.

Aren't inactive ones supposed to be seen as "lost sheep" and "not a lost cause". I can remember that assembly talk. You wouldn't treat a list sheep hardly or it would run away, you would treat it gently and lovingly.

Doubter if you don't agree with the society on things and speak up then you're reproved or disfellowshiped, where's freedom of choice in that?? Its their way or the highway

Doubter - jws do not have freedom of association because they Can be reproved or disfellowshiped for associating with whom the society deems "the wrong people". Just as you can be reproved for being on this site and associating with us "mentally diseased apostates" as the society so kindly put it in the November 2011 study watchtower.

Doubter - the vast majority of "worldly families" don't cut their children off though if they decide to take a different course in life or if they have different beliefs!!
